Frequently asked questions.
Is Zapp safe to use?
Yes. Zapp uses WebRTC technology which encrypts all data end-to-end during transfer. Files are sent directly between browsers and never touch our servers. We use PeerJS's free broker server only for signaling — establishing the connection — after which all data flows peer-to-peer.
Is there a file size limit?
No artificial limit. Zapp can handle files of any size. Very large files (500 MB+) are chunked into 16 KB pieces and streamed in real time. Keep in mind that both browsers need enough memory to hold the file, and transfer speed depends on your network connection.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?
No. Zapp requires no sign-up, no account, and no personal information. Simply open the page, generate a room code, and share it with the person you want to send files to.
How does the room code work?
When you open Zapp, a random 6-character room code is generated on the Send tab. The receiving person enters this code on their Receive tab (or clicks a shared link with the code pre-filled). The code is used only for establishing the WebRTC connection and is not stored anywhere.
Can I send multiple files at once?
Yes. You can select multiple files at once using the file browser or drag and drop them into the zone. Each file will show its own progress bar. Files are sent sequentially, one at a time.
